AUDA-NEPAD commissioned the assignment to support reporting on progress under the African Forest Landscape Restoration Initiative (AFR100) and the broader UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration.
The work included a review of forest and landscape restoration literature across Africa, documentation of major restoration initiatives and case studies, consultation with key stakeholders, and design and implementation of an online survey to compile information on restoration projects for a longer-term continental database.
The assignment concluded with presentation of the findings at an international forest restoration conference held in Malawi in June 2022.
